Battery-Electric Cross-Town, Urban Buses. God created narrow, crowded Manhattan Island for quiet, non-polluting
electric buses. Vehicles propelled by batteries are not new - indeed on third of all motor
vehicles were electric around 1900. In fact NYC had an electric double decker bus in 1908.
Now battery and electric technology has greatly improved, making electric buses
with routes under 4 miles feasible and competitive as well as clean and quiet.
